All The Bésame Lipsticks Featured in the Hit Netflix Show Hollywood!

Celebrating the glamour of the silver screen, Hollywood on Netflix is a beautiful fantasy about the movie business in the 1940s. To bring this elegant era to life, the head makeup artist turned to her favorite cosmetics brand —Bésame!

We spoke to Eryn Krueger Mekash, head of makeup and one of the producers on Hollywood, to get all the makeup details. Here are all the lipsticks that appeared on the beautiful Hollywood stars.

Signature Colors

To be accurate to the time period and help give them a unique look, each of the main characters had one signature lipstick color. Though the color may look different scene to scene  — that's just the lighting! Here are the signature colors for each of the leading ladies.

Camille Washington - Laura Harrier

Red Hot Red Lipstick

Though Red Hot Red remained fashionable through the 1950s (and our lipstick is modeled on one of Marilyn Monroe's real life favorites), it was an incredibly popular choice in the 1940s. As you can see, it looks exceedingly gorgeous on actress Camille Washington.

If Laura looks familiar, it's because she also appeared as Peter Parker's love interest in Spider-man: Homecoming.

Claire Wood - Samara Weaving

American Beauty Lipstick

Throughout the series, actress Samara Weaving wore American Beauty lipstick. This striking color has a slight pink undertone, while staying a true, full red. The historical color was originally made for people with salt and pepper hair. But as Samara proves, it looks lovely with all hair colors and on any skin tone.

Samara recently appeared as the lead in Ready or Not and she's the niece of Marvel, Lord of the Rings, and The Matrix actor, Hugo Weaving.

Avis Amberg - Patti LuPone

Victory Red Lipstick

As the powerful wife of the head of Ace Studios, Patti LuPone wore Victory Red during her time on Hollywood. The legendary diva of musical theater looked stunning in this iconic 1940s color. Victory Red is based on an Elizabeth Arden color that was commissioned by the government during World War II. Since times were tough, the US government specifically asked Arden to create a lipstick to lift spirits and boost morale. This brilliant color continues to bring a little joy, almost 80 years after it was first made!

If you only know Patti LuPone from her film and TV work, do yourself a favor and listen to her sing! Her version of "Everything's Coming Up Roses" will make your day!

Anna May Wong - Michelle Krusiec

Blood Red and Red Hot Red

The majority of Anna May Wong's real-life film work was in the 1930s. For Hollywood, Eryn Krueger Mekash wanted to give Ms. Wong (played by actress Michelle Krusiec) a deeper, more 30s inspired lip. So, Eryn mixed Blood Red and Red Hot Red to give her a slightly different look from the other up and coming starlets.

You might know Michelle from Hawaii Five-0 or one of her many film appearances.

To find out how to do a very similar look, check out our Lips Like Marilyn Tutorial. Using almost identical colors, we show you how to give lips a full, almost contoured look (and it's super easy).

Eryn Krueger Mekash

Mickey Mouse Red Lipstick

Though she's not wearing this in the photo, Eryn said on the latest live chat with Gabriela that Mickey Mouse Red is her favorite color. So, if you want to look like the genius behind the looks on Hollywood, grab yourself some Mickey Mouse Red!

Beautiful lippies , as we say in Australia. I’m partial to Red Hot Red and Victory Red. I love the fact that you do things the old fashioned way. It is admirable that you honor the past and traditions. Thank You!
