How to Use the Bésame Nail Care Kit

You don’t need to head to the salon to get gorgeous nails. With the Bésame Nail Care Kit, you have everything you need for the most glamorous manicure. 

The real secret of a manicure is the prep work. If you take a little time to get the nails just right, your manicure will last longer and look better than a typical at-home painting session.

Here’s a step by step guide on how to get the most out of our kit and get the nails of your dreams.

Clean It Up

Before you use our kit, be sure to remove any old nail polish and clean under the nails. A clean base will make application easier, faster, and look a whole lot nicer!

Shape It Up with the Nail File

Use the Bésame nail file to shape the nails. Be sure to only file nails in one direction at a time (instead of pushing the file back and forth over the nail). This keeps nails healthy and shapes them just as well. For a vintage look, try an almond shape. For a 90s throwback, try square, or for something modern try a coffin shape!

Apply Cuticle Remover

Push cuticles down with ease with our Hydrating Cuticle Remover. Made with natural jojoba oil, our Cuticle Remover helps soften dead rough skin while retaining moisture. Just put a few drops on each cuticle and let sit for 2-3 minutes. 

Give It A Push

After 2-3 minutes of Hydrating Cuticle Remover, use our Cuticle Pusher to push back the cuticles. Be gentle! You don’t want to cut or damage the skin, just push the cuticles away from the nail bed. Once the cuticles are right where you want them, wipe off excess cuticle remover with a cloth or tissue.

Moisturize

Keep the cuticles healthy with our Cuticle Serum with Wild Rose & Vitamin E. The Safflower, Cottonseed, and Wild Rose oils combine to create a hydrating serum filled with natural Vitamin E, which helps strengthen nails and prevent cracked cuticles. Apply a drop of Cuticle Serum to each fingertip and gently massage in the oil.

Quick Rinse

Now that your cuticles are taken care of, rinse off the remaining Cuticle Serum with soap and water or a damp cloth. You don’t want any oil left on the nail, as it will interfere with your nail polish and make it harder to get accurate application.

Base Coat

Now the prep work is done, we’re on to the nails! Our Smoothing Base Coat with Vitamin E & Violet Extract is 2-in-1. One, it provides a smooth, even base for your nail polish. Two, it’s filled with good ingredients that help you grow longer, healthier nails.

The Vitamin E provides powerful antioxidants, Violet Extract adds hydration to heal brittle nails, and Argan Oil restores protein to prevent breakage, making nails thicker, stronger, and more resilient.  Even if you aren’t doing a full manicure, a layer of base coat will make your nails even better in the long run.

You only need one coat. Let the Base Coat dry completely before moving on to the next step.

Polish

Time to add color to the mix. Apply your favorite Bésame Nail Polish. The handle makes the brush easy to maneuver, while the thin white bristles give a lovely, even coat.

Apply the first coat in thin strokes, starting at the center. Once the nail is filled, swipe the brush over the tip of your nail to “cap” the polish. “Capping” helps keep the polish from chipping. After the first coat is completely dry, apply a second coat and cap one more time.

Quick Fix

If you make a little mistake and get some polish on your fingers (and who doesn't from time to time!), use the Polish Rescue to clean up the edges. Use a small amount of polish rescue to brush away the errant nail polish. To get an even more precise clean up, use our Liner Brush from our Mascara Brush Set, dip it into the Polish Rescue, and brush that over mistakes to get rid of the polish.

Polish Rescue does double duty! If you aren’t using a Bésame Nail Polish and want to use one of your old favorites, try our Polish Rescue. Just a few drops help bring old, dried out polish back to life (without affecting the weartime or color). Or, take the easy route and use a Bésame Nail Polish to match your favorite lipstick!

Top Coat

Finish your manicure with our Quick Dry Top Coat. The Top Coat gives nails a clear, glossy finish that helps prevent cracks, chips, and smears. And when we say quick, we mean it! Nails will be dry to the touch in about 2 minutes!

Be sure to “cap” your nails with Top Coat, too! This really extends the wear of your manicure and gives your nails some extra shine.

Don’t Forget to Dry

Our Quick Dry Top Coat lives us to its name, but be sure to wait at least 5 minutes after completing your manicure to let everything dry completely and set without smudges. Make this drying time fun — listen to your favorite dance-y playlist, call your best friend, or watch a YouTube video (we recommend Tuesday Tutorials, though we might be a little biased ☺️)
