Raven's Black Lipstick
Use as a standalone hue, or layer with other colors for a richer, bolder look.
The Old Masters created "black" shadows not by using pure black paint, but by mixing dark, complementary colors like burnt umber, ultramarine blue, and alizarin crimson to form chromatic blacks. This technique produced rich, complex shadows that appeared black from a distance, but offered greater vibrancy and depth than a flat, opaque tube black.

This inaugural edition arrives with a collector’s Raven’s Blood pin: an emblem of mystery and bold elegance.
Designed for the discerning wearer, Raven's Black offers:
- Versatility with depth: Worn alone, it evokes drama and confidence. Layered, it deepens and defines, lending sophistication to any shade in your collection.
- Wear alone, or layer with other colors: Layer Raven's Black with other lipstick hues to create a deeper, bolder look.
- Seasonless elegance: A bold companion for autumn’s masquerade, yet equally at home in spring’s minimalism or summer’s edge.
- A ritual of refinement: From the first glide, it becomes part of your signature—never loud, always noticed. This is not a costume. It’s character. Raven's Black is for those who understand that elegance is not inherited—it’s chosen.
- The Raven's Blood Pin: A metallic raven, holding a jewel drop of blood. It serves as a reminder of mystery.
Our application guide has been used for decades on actresses to give them perfect camera-ready lips that last throughout a long day of filming.
1. Prepare Lips
- Make sure your lips are clean and free of dryness.
- Hydrate lips with a small amount of your favorite balm and let set for a minute.
- Blot excess balm and apply a touch of foundation to the edges of your lips. This will lock in the lipstick’s color and extend its wear.
- Draw in the natural edge of your lips with the Bésame lipstick’s tip sharp point. This will keep the lipstick from bleeding out of the edges of the lip line.
- Do not overdraw your lip line since this may create an artificial look.
2. Apply Bésame Lipstick
- Using the flat side of your Bésame lipstick, starting at the highest point of the lips directly under the nostrils.
- Fill in with color, working towards the corner of the lips on one side, then from the center out to the other corner.
- Apply one coat of color filling in the top and bottom of your lips.
- If you go outside the lip line, use your finger or a cotton swab to correct it and then blend the area with a bit of your foundation.
- Press your lips together lightly to distribute the color.
- For a stronger finish, apply a final coat in the center of the lip.
- Lastly, use a tissue to gently blot the lips to seal in the color. Blot twice. Add one final coat with one more blot to finish.
1. Prepare Lips
Ensure your lips are clean and free of dryness. Hydrate with a small amount of balm and let it absorb for a minute. Blot away excess, then apply a touch of foundation around the edges of your lips. This locks in color and extends wear. Using the sharp point of your Bésame lipstick, trace your natural lip line to prevent feathering.
2. Apply Raven’s Black
For full, dramatic color, use the flat side of the lipstick to fill in your lips, beginning at the cupid’s bow and working outward. Apply one even coat, press lips together, and blot gently. For deeper pigment, add a second coat and blot again to seal.
3. To Create Custom Shades
Raven’s Black can also be layered with other Bésame lipsticks to deepen or transform any shade.
- Before color: Apply Raven’s Black first, then layer another lipstick on top for a muted, sultry tone.
- After color: Apply your chosen lipstick first, then lightly sweep Raven’s Black over the top for added depth and richness.
Blend with a lip brush or fingertip until the desired hue is achieved.
