Easy Vintage Nail Art You Can Do At Home
Nail art has flourished in the last few years, but the trend has been around for a long time! Starting in the 1920s, people got creative with nails, adding everything from half moon details to golden accents.
The best part? These vintage-inspired looks are easy to do at home - especially with the help of Bésame's new nail line!
Here are 4 beautiful nail art looks to give your manicure a little extra glam.
Moon Nails
Popular since the 1920s, this is not only beautiful, but a great way to extend the wear time of your manicure. Since the base of the nail stays nude, it disguises nail growth!
Materials Needed:
- Hole Punch Reinforcement Stickers (found at any office supply store)
Step 1: Apply Base Coat
Apply one layer of Base Coat and let it dry.
Step 2: Apply Hole Reinforcement Sticker
Place the sticker so it covers the "moon" of the nail. If it helps, cut the sticker in half (and use the other half for your next manicure!).
Step 3: Apply Nail Polish
Use one coat of your favorite color of Bésame Nail Polish.
Step 4: Remove Sticker
Before the polish dries, carefully remove the sticker. If there's any smearing or transfer, use nail polish remover or our Polish Rescue to clean up the half moon shape.
Step 5: Apply Top Coat
Apply one layer of Top Coat and let dry.
Step 6: Admire Your Beautiful Moon Manicure
Double Moon Manicure
Why settle for one moon when you could have two?
Materials Needed:
- Nail Polish Remover
- Hole Punch Reinforcement Stickers (found at any office supply store)
Step 1: Apply Base Coat
Apply one layer of Base Coat and let it dry.
Step 2: Put Reinforcement Sticker Near Cuticle
Place the sticker so the curve covers the "moon" of the nail.
Step 3: Apply Nail Polish
Apply one coat of nail polish to the entire nail.
Step 4: Remove Sticker
Before the polish dries, remove the sticker.
Step 5: Apply Second Sticker and Remove Tip
Once the nail polish is dry, apply the second sticker so it creates a half-moon shape on the tip of the nail. Then, use nail polish remover to take away the nail polish at the tip. Remove sticker and admire your matching moons.
Step 6: Re-Apply Base Coat to Tip
To strengthen and nourish nails, re-apply one coat of Base Coat to the tip.
Step 7: Apply Top Coat
Add one coat of Quick Dry Top Coat to seal in the polish and give your nails a beautiful, glossy finish.
Half & Half Nails
A French-styled manicure with a twist!
Materials Needed:
- 2 Colors of Bésame Nail Polish
Step 1: Apply Base Coat
Apply one coat of Base Coat.
Step 2: Apply Lighter Color to Half of Nail Tip
Use the lighter colored nail polish and apply to one half of the tip of your nail. Follow the shape of your nail and try to do in one even swipe.
Step 3: Apply Darker Color to Other Half of Nail Tip
Allow the first color to dry. Then, use the darker color and do the exact same thing on the opposite side. The colors will crisscross at the very tip.
Step 4: Apply Top Coat
Apply one layer of Quick Dry Top Coat.
Lovers Heart Nails
A sweet look for Valentine's or anytime! For a video tutorial, check out our recent YouTube video!
Materials Needed:
Step 1: Apply Base Coat
Apply one layer of base coat.
Step 2: Apply Portrait Pink Nail Polish
Apply one layer of Portrait Pink Nail Polish. Or you can just apply base coat to let the heart pop even more.
Step 3: Apply First Half of Heart to the Tip
As you remove the brush from the bottle, allow the nail polish to pool at the tip. This helps create the first curve of the heart. Set the brush at the quick of the nail and swipe up to the tip. This creates one half of the heart.
Step 4: Create the Second Half of the Heart
Do step 3 on the opposite side!
Step 5: Apply Top Coat
Apply one layer of Quick Dry Top Coat.
